TITLE: Development Professional


REPORTS TO:
Artistic Director

SUMMARY: The Development Professional is responsible for raising money through grant writing and other fundraising methods requiring research, outreach, and follow-up to attain grants and donations to meet the fundraising goals of the Ballet Conservatory of South Texas (BCSTX). This position will require direct interface with potential donors and trustees of foundations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research potential donors and determine best fit for supporting BCSTX mission and funding needs. Determine strategy and tactics to successfully ask for and receive funding for each individual potential donor.
  • Maintain list of potential donors, requests, and outcomes.
  • Write grant letters and perform needed follow-up to attain funding.
  • Engage BCSTX board members as needed for support.
  • Schedule face-to-face meetings with potential donors to articulate needs when necessary.
  • Prepare monthly status reports for the BCSTX board of directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion for the arts, and ballet in particular, embracing our mission of fulfilling the development needs of serious young dancers, regardless of economic background.
  • 5 years experience of successful grant writing and fundraising for a non-profit organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to excel at details.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

WORK HOURS AND SALARY:

This position allows flexibility in hours, but individual must be able to interface with BCSTX staff, board members, and potential donors during business hours.
