Students are evaluated and placed in appropriate classes based on skill, experience, and required flexibility and strength. The age groupings shown below is a reference only for the typical ages in each classes, as age alone is not a determining factor.
Creative Movement I & II – ages 3-5
Designed to introduce the youngest dancer to movement and musicality. Classes are tailored to be fun and prepare young students for formal dance training through development of both fine and gross motor skills. Basic classical ballet foundations are introduced such as positions, body posture, stretching, and conduct are introduced. Balancing, skipping and leaping along with ballet based activities and games are all part of our exciting curriculum.

Pre-Ballet – ages 5-6
Students experience a more structured class than Creative Movement. Ballet conduct, stretching, coordination exercises, and movement across the floor are augmented. In addition, use of the “plié”, stretching of the legs, pointed feet, and higher jumps are emphasized in a dynamic and fun environment.

Primary Ballet – ages 6-7
This class is a continuation of our Pre-Ballet level. Class is more structured and exercises focus on muscular development. Spotting is introduced and ballet posture, balance, terminology, and classical ballet positions are emphasized.

Students begin a solid discipline of ballet. Center floor work is increased as well as memory and coordination exercises. Correct body placement and proper turnout are highly stressed at this level.

Students focus on strengthening and increasing their technique while gaining a better understanding of their body’s movement. Pre-pointe exercises are prominent in this level to strengthen feet, ankle, and leg muscles for future pointe work.

An optional class for Ballet I through V dancers, Lyrical style has its primary basis in classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, and the expressiveness aspects of jazz, and modern dance. Lyrical dance is focused on transmitting musicality and emotion through movement.
